HGX recently completed an extensive custom wall graphics project for the Chickasaw Nation Child Development Center in Ada, Oklahoma, transforming rooms throughout the facility into colorful, imaginative environments designed with children in mind.
And this one has been a long time coming.
A Project Years in the Making
The Ada Child Development Center project has been in development for years, making it especially exciting to finally see the finished spaces come together.
Rather than approaching the facility as a collection of individual walls, the artwork was designed to create complete environments. Forests continue around corners. Rivers move across multiple surfaces. Characters appear throughout the scenes, and large illustrations interact with doors, windows, vents, equipment, and other features of the building.
The result is an experience that feels much larger than any one graphic.
Turning Rooms Into Environments
Custom wall graphics can completely change the character of an interior space.
Throughout the Ada facility, large-format graphics introduce colorful outdoor and nature-inspired scenes filled with playful animals and other kid-friendly artwork. Some areas feel like stepping into a forest along the water, while others create an underwater environment filled with turtles and fish.
Because the artwork extends across entire walls — and in many cases around multiple walls — the finished rooms feel immersive rather than simply decorated.
That difference is important.
Environmental graphics don’t just place a picture on a surface. They use the room itself as part of the design.
Large Projects Require More Than Large Prints
Projects of this scale require careful planning long before installation begins.
Every wall has its own dimensions and obstacles. Doors, windows, electrical components, HVAC vents, mounted equipment, cabinets, corners, and transitions between surfaces all have to be considered when artwork is prepared.
The goal is for the final installation to feel seamless even when the surface underneath it is anything but simple.
That combination of design, large-format production, precise installation, and project coordination is what allows HGX to tackle commercial and institutional graphics projects on this scale.
Ada Is Only the Beginning
The completed Ada location is also part of a larger project.
HGX is currently working on additional Chickasaw Nation Child Development Center projects in Tishomingo and Purcell, Oklahoma, giving us the opportunity to carry this concept into multiple facilities while creating unique environments within each location.
